Today Mommy, William and Madelyn went to Katie and Safina's nice and early - 9:00! Katie was having a special play date for a bunch of birthday girls: 3 little ones, Safina, Aislyn, and Ella and two big ones: Erin and Adina. Katie made yummy cupcakes which everyone enjoyed.
Madelyn seems to be getting back on schedule. She still wakes up early, but Mommy can handle that with a full nights sleep. She usually naps 3 hours after she wakes up for about an hour. Sometimes she will nap after an hour and a half, but still be up until her afternoon nap. She takes that nap between 12 and 1. She doesn't sleep too long; hour to an hour and a half, but is in bed between 6 and 7 for the night. Not bad.
William started Letter of the Week - M today making a visit to the library in order. After was a trip to the grocery store where William pushed his little red cart. It was a quick trip, but a break down was on the horizon. Mommy nursed Madelyn in the van in the parking lot. William was playing around and got in the front. He was OK up there until he started playing with the doors. Mommy asked him to come to the back, but he didn't. Mommy pulled him to the back and the entire time he was crying, "William do it." He fought as Mommy put him in his car seat and he cried the entire way home. He eventually calmed down once they were in the house and Mommy put in the CD that accompanied one of the books they borrowed.
Today is also Laura and Pete's one month anniversary! Happy Anniversary!
...and a lot has been going on!
This morning Madelyn was awake at 4, but was back to sleep a little while later and then slept until 6:45. This made nap time 9:45 - much later than normal. Mommy and William kept busy while Madelyn was sleeping. They went outside and did a little weeding. William picked a few pea pods and ate them. They picked three strawberries and brought them in the house to wash and eat with a little cream.
Mommy wanted to get a video of William singing the song he sang to Daddy on Father's Day. William was being silly, but he eventually performed.
William has been saying that he loves a lot of food lately. He shares a few here.
It was a nice day today and Mommy wanted to take William outside for a bit while Madelyn was taking her afternoon nap. William, however does not like getting sunblock applied. Mommy gave him a choice of going outside, but he had to have sunblock put on first or doing a craft. He chose a craft. So, he finished up the week with a letter K craft - keys. He loved it!
Madelyn was watching from the floor while chewing on one of her amazing new teething spoons. She loves, loves watching William. Mommy loves watching the two of them interact. There is nothing in the world better!
Madelyn has to be stripped down when she eats her meals. Messy is an understatement. Mommy can not say enough about the spoons though. And William sharing more of his love for food.
Today is Father's Day. Mommy and Madelyn were up pretty early so Mommy got William out of his room when he woke up. Everyone got into bed with Daddy. First, William sang him a song and gave him his gift. It was a painting with the word DAD stenciled on it. Then Mommy gave Daddy a gift. William opened it for him. It was Oakley sun glasses! Daddy was surprised and may have been hoping it was his iPod docking station. Oops.
What did Daddy do today? Well, he was at Home Depot before it opened to rent a sander for the deck and then he pretty much worked outside until dinner at Mimi and Papa's.
Mommy had to get William out of the house because he just wants to help Daddy and this job was strictly for Daddy. Mommy casually asked William if he wanted to get a hair cut and he said yes! What!? OK. Mommy had to frantically call around to find a salon open on Sundays, on Father's Day. An appointment was made for 45 minutes later at Mommy's salon, Chez Ann. Mommy thought, for sure, that William was going to change his mind. Mommy kept explaining what was going to happen: there will be pretty ladies there, you will get your hair washed, you will wear a cap like Super Man (he doesn't even know who Super Man is), and then she will cut your hair with scissors. He was all for it. When Mommy told Daddy she was taking William and Madelyn to get William's hair cut he responded with, "With both of them? Are you sure?" William's track record warranted such comments. The only other two hair cuts he has had he was completely unhappy with. Mommy was feeling optimistic and said it would be no problem.
Mommy kept talking it up and got everyone in the van and ready to go. Mommy swung by Tim Horton's drive through for two Timbits. One for before the hair cut and one after. (Nothing for Mommy). Mommy parked right in front of the salon and William asked, "Where are the ladies?"
William's stylist, Jordan, was waiting at the front desk. Mommy recognized her right away because she did Mommy's hair for Laura's wedding. William was able to walk through and look around a bit. Madelyn seemed interested too. William decided it would be OK to let Jordan wash his hair. She got a booster seat to put on the chair and helded William up. She put a towel around him and had him lean back. He was so awesome. He let her wash his hair, no problem. He only needed to be reminded once to look up when she was rinsing him. He was looking around -- probably wondering why Mommy and Daddy hadn't taken him here to begin with instead of that crazy, loud, Kids Cuts R Fun. High end, baby. High end.
When William got off the chair his shirt was a little wet from the wash. Jordan, kindly, took it off and put it in the dryer. William got in Jordan's chair again with the booster and had a big black cape put on. Then the cut! It went so well. He was so good and he looks sooo different now!
Madelyn was also very good. She watched William in the mirror and was giggling every now and then.
The family went to Mimi and Papa's for a Father's Day dinner...filets, shrimp, awesome cheese tortilini pasta salad...so yummy. Madelyn was getting pretty fussy so Mommy buckled her in her car seat and Daddy rocked her. She slept the rest of the visit.
Daddy opened his gift from Mimi and Papa. It was the iPod docking station! Mommy didn't forget, Daddy! He also got a pair of working gloves, margarita mix and tequilla. He was happy to have a drink (or 4) after working so hard this weekend on the deck and for being such an amazing, wonderful, thoughtful, patient, kind, loving Daddy ever. Strawberry shortcake for dessert!
Mommy, William and Madelyn went grocery shopping this morning at Wegman's. William was asking about the red cart that he uses at Tops. Mommy was nervous of a break down since she knew there wasn't one at Wegman's. Thankfully he was excited to drive in the car attached to the front of the cart. Madelyn sat in the seat of the cart for the first time today. Mommy only got threw the produce department before she had to carry Madelyn.
Daddy also got to work early. There was still a lot of the upper trellis that needed staining. What a pain this job was. Daddy got very messy! William helped out by tightening up some loose screws. The tool is pink because it is Mommy's. Thank goodness Mommy asked for a tool box for Christmas. All Daddy's tools are at Ed and Kathleen's!
The garden has been producing a bunch of peas. William goes to the garden and opens the pods right there and eats them. They are a good snack for him. Next year more peas definitely need to be planted. William has also picked and ate a few strawberries. They are very small compared to what you see in the store, but oh so tasty. William has been watching the peppers. He can not wait until they are big enough to harvest. He asks every time he is in the garden if he can pick them.
Mommy found an awesome new teething toy for Madelyn. Pea pods! She loves gnawing on them and they are free of chemicals or other potential hazards! Of course Mommy watches her and if she gnaws on them enough that they start to split they get taken away.
William worked on another Father's day present for Daddy this afternoon. Mommy didn't tell William that is what it was for since he gave the first one to him early. She just told him he was doing a craft and he was very happy about that. When he was finished he said, "What fun!"
Mommy bought Madelyn new spoons. These spoons are silicone and are designed for teething babies. She absolutely looooves them. And therefore, so does Mommy! Madelyn is eating much better now!
After Madelyn and William were in bed Mommy continued working on the kitchen.
This morning Amy and her girls, Grace and Emma came over to play. How fun! Emma is a couple months older than William and Grace is 4. Emma and William got along so well. They were such good sharers - very cute! Mommy and Amy barely caught up, it had been way, way too long.
Daddy came home when William was napping so he could get a head start on staining. There is still much to do. Mommy was so tired. She was hoping to nap too, but Madelyn had other plans. She woke up soon after William went in. Mommy could barely keep her eyes open so she and Madelyn went to Tim Horton's for an Iced Capp. Yum. It helped, but not for long.
Thai take out for dinner! It was awesome! Madelyn was in bed by dinner time since she had such a short nap, but she was crying and Mommy being so tired had to leave the house until she fell asleep. It was too much to handle.
Daddy continued working on the deck and Mommy was in bed by 9.
The picture/video taking has been little to none due to the business of current preparations for Jessica's shower. They will resume asap.
Madelyn stayed asleep after her two hour protest until 5:30 - 5:45 AM. Mommy was happy about that. Yeah, 5:30 is early, but Mommy is used to it and has to come to terms with William and Madelyn just being early birds. Let's see if it is still that way when they are teenagers!
William inspected Mommy's painting job. He seemed to approve. He wanted a protein shake for breakfast and it has been a long time since they've had them, so that was breakfast this morning.
Music with Mar after Madelyn's nap. It has been a looong time since William has seen Miss Katie and Mr. Froggy. Probably since his birthday party! Katie and Safina were there too. Madelyn LOVED it. It wasn't her first time, but it was the first time she wasn't sleeping in her car seat. William drummed pretty well during the stick song and marched independently during the parade!
Mommy, Madelyn and William met Katie and Safina at the Harlem Rd. playground - love that playground. William and Safina played together so well.
No nap for William today. He went in for two cd lengths, but was still awake so Mommy brought him down to play.
Mimi came over after school and Mommy got a bit of house work done. William helped vacuuming - he absolutely loves it! He loves helping whenever he can. Vacuuming is Mommy's favorite chore since it requires the least amount of effort and the results are quick and super obvious. Maybe William feels the same way?
Mimi gave William a bath and put him to bed...such a big help for Mommy since Daddy is out of town. Mommy thought William may have a break down at any moment since he didn't nap and he didn't make it to bed any earlier, but luckily, he was OK. Mommy thinks it was because Mimi was with him.
Mommy continued painting the kitchen until midnight. Daddy came home just as she was cleaning up!
William slept until 7, not very late considering the 10PM bedtime. Mommy and Madelyn were up before the birds. Daddy made eggs for breakfast since he didn't have to go to the office before heading out for his trip. He left at 10Am and will be home Thursday night.
Madelyn had her morning nap really early and when William was ready for his afternoon nap Madelyn had just woken from hers. They were on opposite schedules today, for sure.
William worked on a Letter of the Week - K craft. He made a K with a crown and jewels for KING! It was frustrating for him because there were multiple steps which involved letting glue dry. Two year olds are not very patient!
Mommy, William and Madelyn went out to A.C. Moore to get some craft supplies and items for Jessica's shower. Then, the headed over to Pet Smart to look at the animals. William calls it the petting zoo. Not sure where he got that from? He wanted to be carried to see them all first. For the second round he walked around on his own, except near the birds. "Too loud!"
Home made mac and cheese for dinner. Nice and easy. Madelyn was ready to sleep at 5:30. Mommy put her in not sure if it was for the night or not. William ate, Madelyn slept and Mommy started taping the kitchen in preparation for painting later.
Tonight was the night, Mommy decided, to let Madelyn cry if she woke up during the night. She did wake up at 8:30 and Mommy took that opportunity to change her and put her pj's on. After that Madelyn was on her own. She woke up about and hour later and only cried for a couple of minutes. Then she woke around 10 and cried on and off for 2 hours! Hopefully she learns quickly or Mommy and everyone in the house are going to be Zombies.

Daddy going to work on a Tuesday, even after four days with him, was perfect compared to a Monday. What is it with Mondays?
Madelyn is getting up SO much during the night. This has to stop! Mommy is formulating a plan.
This morning Mommy, William and Madelyn went to toddler time at the library. Miss Beth - Mommy can NOT stand this woman's voice, especially when she changes it to give voices to the characters. Its for the kids, its for the kids. Anyway, Miss Beth read a story about a bear. Every toddler chose a bear to hold. Then they played hide and seek, fed the bear, rocked the bear and put the bear to sleep. Then Miss Beth read Goldilocks. What next? A craft for Father's Day, of course! William enjoys making the crafts most during toddler time.
Mommy, William and Madelyn went over to the children's section of the library and found two books for The Letter of the Week - K. One about kites and one about a kitten. They also checked out two books about the Forth of July.
They quickly made a stop at Tops (formally Quality) and William used his cart again. He was very excited about not tipping it over this time! On our way to the van Katie and Safina were walking in. They said hi briefly, but Madelyn was ready for a nap.
Later, after dinner, William was going on about Father's Day and found the craft that he made during toddler time and gave it to Daddy. Need to be careful about gifts from now on, huh?
When William and Madelyn were in bed Mommy worked on the kitchen and Daddy worked outside. William had to have his music turned back on four times. He was up past 10PM. Uh, oh.
The plan was to leave the cottage a few minutes before Madelyn's morning nap so she would sleep on the way home. Plans...they are rarely executed without a hitch with little kids. William slept until 7 and therefore so did Daddy. There was only an hour and 15 minutes before Mommy wanted to be in the car and ready to go. They were only 15 minutes later, but Madelyn had been ready to sleep for the last 10 so Mommy rocked her in her car seat as Daddy finished closing up. She fell asleep and stayed asleep for the first half hour of the ride. Not bad.
Daddy did a bit of work from home and Mommy, William and Madelyn played.
It's going to be a busy week!
This week Poppy, Gramma, Maryann and Mugs are staying on Chautauqua lake. They usually only stay for a long weekend, but this year they decided to extend. Aunt Joanne and Joe are there for the weekend too. Mommy and Daddy specifically made sure to be out there this weekend so they could visit the cottage. Today was the day. Too bad it was MISERABLE! Rain and cold. Yuck.
When William woke up he asked where Poppy and Gramma were. This morning- chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast. Yummy. Not much went on since it was dreary outside. 
Mimi and Papa came after church. It was great to have them help out since the cottage was about to get really full. Mommy and Daddy kept busy during afternoon naps preparing tuna salad, husking corn and cleaning up.
The gang showed up and took a tour of the cottage. William was an animated tour guide. He loves being the center of attention. A few went on a quick boat ride before the guys started grilling some dogs, burgers and sausages. After dinner Mimi and Papa left and Daddy started a fire. Maryann and Gramma left early to let Gigit out. Aunt Joanne, Joe, Poppy and Mugs hung around the fire before heading out. It was nice to have them over. Hopefully they have a nice week!
Rough night of sleep, but what else is new? Eggs for breakfast this morning. The family packed into the car to go strawberry picking! The plan was to drive out during Madelyn's morning nap and Mommy and Daddy would trade off with William, picking strawberries. Like many things in life, it didn't go as planned. Madelyn fell asleep, so Daddy and William started picking while Mommy and Duke stayed in the car with Madelyn. Well, good old Duke, barking and whining woke Madelyn up within 10 minutes of being there. So much for her nap. Mommy took Madelyn to help Daddy and William. Turns out William wasn't that into picking since there was a 
big tractor at the side of the field. Daddy took Madelyn and William to see it while Mommy spent some quiet time (besides the cars and trucks driving by) with nature. It was nice for her.
Madelyn, of course, fell asleep on the way back to the cottage. Daddy and William did a couple more jobs while waiting for Madelyn to wake up so they all could go on a boat ride. She was sleeping long so Daddy and William went out for a quick one before lunch.
After naps it was time to enjoy some fun, play time pool play, the lake and just hanging out!
Madelyn took her first bath in the sink at Chautauqua! Big brother William even helped out. Hey, Daddy, that shirt looks familiar. The night time routine was out of order: baths, dinner, fire and marshmallows!, and bed. Yes, there was a fire started at 5PM on one of the most humid days of the year!
Later Daddy took great footage of Madelyn's wild ability to get everything in arms reach into he mouth!
Daddy took off work today!!! There was a lot to do before our trip out to Chautauqua though. Daddy mowed and trimmed the front and back lawns, took a lawn mower over to North Dr. for the tenants, went to Gondola for pasta. Mommy, William and Madelyn went to Wegman's then Madelyn and Mommy dropped off a meal for Jon, Gen and baby Charlie. Charlie was awake for a quick hello. Mommy also spent the morning gathering and packing for the weekend.
All were crammed in the van, including Duke, after Madelyn and William woke up from their naps. Madelyn fell asleep on the way down and although Duke was drugged he didn't do as well as the last trip out.
Once at Chautauqua the work continued...lawn mowed and trimming, setting up the awning, and general unpacking and setting up.
Madelyn played a bit while Daddy and William did some work. She sat there and played too, when Mommy needed to help Daddy outside. She is Little Miss Independent already!
After a quick dinner sweet potatoes (first time) Madelyn was showing signs of sleepiness. It was tough getting her to sleep and it was getting pretty late for William so Mommy brought Madelyn downstairs and Daddy put William to bed. Madelyn fell asleep awhile after. What will the night bring?
Madelyn woke up at 5am. Mommy really has to start becoming more committed to allowing her to fall asleep on her own. She is strong willed as it is. As she gets older it will only become more difficult. She is just SO LOUD though. It is tough to listen to. It will happen when it is meant to.
Stephen and Jamie came over this morning for a play date. Everyone had a good time. Stephen was very excited to play with William's fire truck and work bench. William did a great job sharing and enjoyed playing with Stephen.
Mommy was so tired that she took a nap today! Madelyn went in .5 hour before William and they both slept for 2 hours so Mommy got to sleep for an hour and a half!!!
Mimi stopped by really quickly to show Mommy the centerpieces for Jessica's shower. She loved them!
William eating pistachios and Madelyn entertaining herself with a Tupperware container while Mommy prepares dinner.
Daddy and William went over to Ed and Kathleen's to pick up the fishing boat to bring to Chautauqua tomorrow. William was very excited to show Mommy when they got home.

This morning Mommy took William (and Madelyn) to see the Amherst Cooperative Nursery School. Mommy and Daddy had pretty much decided William will be attending as a student this fall unless something strikingly obvious was wrong with the place. Mommy told William were they were going and when they left the house he asked where the school bus was. He didn't quite understand what school was since all he's ever seen was the actual school buses picking up the kids. He thought that was school. The tour was short and William seemed to like the play room especially where there was a gas station to fill up the ride on toys (among other super cool toys).
Mommy sent in the application and deposit while William and Madelyn napped. Crazy.
The three of them went to the Dollar Store to get craft supplies for the Letter of the Week activities. William loved walking around looking at (and touching) all the toys, utensils, candles and everything else under the sun.
Mimi came over after school and played with Madelyn and William so Mommy could get some cleaning done. She was only able to sweep and pick up a little, but that is much more than she could do with the two of them. She was thankful!
This morning Mommy, William and Madelyn went to Tops (previously Quality) to do some light shopping. William usually sits in the car that is attached to the front of the cart. They were no where to be found today. They did have a small red cart with a pole attached to a flag that read: Customer in Training. How cute!? William LOVED it. He put all the groceries in his cart and even picked out a couple items himself. Madelyn didn't want to be in Mommy's cart any longer so she was carried on Mommy's hip. She enjoyed seeing what was going on. All was well until...William took a turn too sharply and the cart tipped over. He immediately started crying. Mommy was trying to pick it up while holding Madelyn. A nice man came to help out. William was weary for a while after. The senior citizens in the store (stay at home moms and senior citizens are about all you can find in a grocery store at 11 AM) were all very helpful. At least they tried to be. William looked at them like they had an extra eye or something. Finally, Mommy offered William a special ice cream treat so they could get moving and out of there. William continued to be super cute. When Mommy told him to pick out the cheese he said, "I like cheese." And the tortilla chips, "I love chips." He unpacked his cart onto the check out belt by himself and the cashier put a couple bags in his cart. How fun! Hopefully the cart is there next time or there may be one angry customer in training.
Later in the day Mommy, William and Madelyn went for a wake to meet Katie and Safina. They got across Wherle and Madelyn began to cry. Mommy took her out of the stroller and was carrying her and pushing William. They saw Katie and Safina down the street and they heard Madelyn. Once they met up they rushed back to the house, Madelyn crying the whole way. Mommy's neck and shoulders were so tense when they finally got back. Mommy thought she may have been hungry, but that wasn't it. She cheered up once they were back home.
Safina and William played in the front yard. They played frisbee and baseball (the 2 year old versions). Then they started chasing each other around the yard. They have such fun together!
After William and Madelyn were in bed Mommy and Daddy worked on staining the trellis again. Busy, busy.
This morning William and Madelyn reminded Mommy why she dislikes Mondays, but the day was pretty great after all.
Madelyn had her 6 month doctors appointment. She is doing great, growing well. She weights 17 pounds - in the 95th percentile. William at this age weighed 17 lbs 14 oz, but girls are generally smaller. She is 27 inches long. William was 27.5. Her head circumference is a bit larger than William's was. Go Madelyn go! And then the three shots. Ouch.
William was a good boy in the doctor's office, although it took A LOT of convincing and reassuring that the appointment was for Madelyn and not him. He said that he was going to stay in the car while Mommy and Madelyn went to the doctor. He said, "Be right back." Of course, that didn't happen. He watched a movie on Mommy's computer while Madelyn was checked.
Daddy came home a bit early today to continue painting the trellis. Mommy helped later after Madelyn and William were in bed.
The Butwin's woke up to lots and lots and lots of rain. The backyard was completely flooded. Daddy used Mimi an Papa's pump until they came to get it...their basement was flooded. Then he went out to buy one for himself. It will get a lot of use with this yard!
William and Daddy made strawberry rhubarb pie with the rhubarb from the garden. The oven is not very good at keeping or showing the correct temperature and because of that it didn't turn out so well, but don't worry, it won't go to waste!
Daddy took Mommy, William and Madelyn to dinner at Gramma Mora's. They were the first table to be sat at 4:30 PM! Ha...they still had to rush out of there. They got their food and ate a lot of it before Madelyn became unhappy. Daddy took her outside, but then William started whining for Daddy. Surprisingly, the restaurant had a decent amount of tables at that time and it was getting disruptive. Mommy paid and got William out of there. It was worth the try. Daddy asked, "Would you rather have tried and failed or not tried at all?" Mommy said, "Definitely want to continue trying." She loves eating out!
William and Daddy had some super fun play time this morning.
When Madelyn woke up from her morning nap everyone piled in the car to go visit baby Charlie. Jon and Gen are doing well adjusting to their newest family member. Charlie slept the whole visit. Mommy said that it would be nice to have three. Daddy fell over.
Daddy worked on starting to sand and stain the deck. It looks really good, but a lot more to get done. Since everything was cleared off the deck, grill included, the family went to Mimi and Papa's for dinner. It was super yummy!
This morning William woke up crying for Daddy. He was missing him. Mommy too.
Ed and Kathleen came to take William out for the morning, but William was a bit hesitant. Mommy took him to the car and got him in his seat. He didn't object at all, but was pretty quiet. Soon after they left Kathleen called Mommy to let her know that he cheered up and was doing better.
Once Madelyn woke up from her nap she and Mommy went grocery shopping. When they were almost finished Daddy called Mommy to say that he was on his way home from the airport! Mommy and Madelyn got home and were happy to see Daddy. William wasn't due back from his morning out for another 45 minutes.
William was happy to see Daddy, but was pretty tired from his adventures with Ed and Kathleen. They went to Tom's Diner for lunch and down to the Niagara River in Tonawanda.
This morning Mommy and William were ready for the day before Madelyn napped and she napped early. Early enough that the stores Mommy wanted to stop to weren't open yet.
The first stop was Treats Unleashed for Duke's food. Then they swung over to Toys R Us to get a pool. All out! Instead William liked a small football and a sport set of a bat, 2 balls, a Frisbee and two track ball rackets. Lastly, the stopped at Carter's to get baby Charlie a gift and Mommy also bought William two pajama sets and Madelyn three pant outfits for cooler days and nights at Chautauqua.
While William was napping Mommy's friend Katy came over. Madelyn took a short afternoon nap so she hung with the girls. Katy brought a treasure of clothes and sneakers for William. Mommy loves Katy's taste in clothes. William will totally be stylin'!
After dinner William helped Mommy give Madelyn a bath. That could have gone better, but everyone got through it.
Daddy comes home tomorrow!
This morning Madelyn napped for over two hours and Mommy and William were waiting for her so they could go to a playgroup at Katie and Safina's. When she finally woke up, William did not want to put on his sandles because the left one rubs his pinky toe. Mommy tried to put a band aid on it, but he wanted it on his hand instead. They managed to get out of the house and arrived an hour late. The group was outside and Mommy had an intense caffiene headach so they didn't stay long.
Once William and Madelyn were down for thier naps Mommy went to bed too. She was able to sleep for an hour and a half!
William and Madelyn played in the family room for awhile and Mommy snaps some pictures. They are a bit blurry otherwise they would have been good ones.
Mimi and Papa came over with dinner and to help Mommy with bed time. They had yummy taco salads! Mimi gave William a bath and Mommy put Madelyn to bed. It was such a great help.
Counting down the days until Daddy gets home!
After the crazy weekend and the few days leading up to it there will be a couple days of recuperation and getting the house back in order. It may take a little longer than it should since Daddy left this morning on a business trip. Mommy is very tired and isn't sure she will ever get caught up on sleep. She decided to let the house go a couple more days until she gets a decent amount of shut eye.
Madelyn woke up this morning sometime in the late 4 AM hour. Mommy has a difficult time remembering anymore since she is so tired she is basically running on auto pilot. Daddy left by 6 AM leaving Mommy with dual morning duties. Relatively speaking, it was an easy morning. Mommy had her eyes closed for most of it though.
William started a new Letter of the Week - I. Madelyn went down for an early morning nap allowing time to head over to the library. Mommy wanted to get a couple letter I books for William, but the only two she could find in the database were checked out. William picked out two more Elephant and Pig books by Mo Willems.
Since they were at the library so early, they were able to crash the toddler story time. Miss Beth read The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Then she brought out a caterpillar tunnel that all the kids crawled through and picked up their butterfly wings at the end. Mommy wasn't sure that William would do it, but he did! With their wings, they sang a song and did a dance. Then, the kids made a caterpillar craft. Hopefully they can go back next week. There are two more weeks in this session. FUN! Madelyn enjoyed the story as well. She watched the activity and chewed on her toys.
Katie was kind enough to invite Mommy, William and Madelyn over for dinner since Daddy is out of town and Tony was working late! It was very nice to catch up. William and Safina had a great time playing together. They built puzzles, skimmed through a couple books and then after a spaghetti dinner they chased each other around the house. They have such a blast together. Katie and Mommy love watching them interact. Check out the photo on Katie's blog.
Mommy went to bed at 9 o'clock and left the house a big o'mess!
